Water tight GRP bridge walkway, with removable access covers for maintenance.
A water tight GRP walkway with removable covers for maintenance access on Cook Street Rail Bridge, on one of the main railway lines into Glasgow Central Station.
Installation during night shifts
The old Cook Street Bridge is an ageing but robust cast iron bridge conveying the railway and covered in stone ballast. Working with Amco on their package of refurbishment works, the project started with some historical drawings which stated that the written dimensions should not be trusted! After several meetings with the contractor, design consultants were tasked to come up with workable proposals to create a water-tight walkway with removable covers for maintenance purposes.
